Richard Arenaro, Jr., is Chief Technology Officer at Stroz Friedberg and a member of its Senior Leadership Team. As CTO, he is responsible for all operational aspects of Information Technology within the firm, including data center operations, network and security functions, systems engineering, overall IT infrastructure, client services, telecommunications, and IT security. Under his direction, his team drives the development and innovation of the firm’s proprietary, industry-leading eDiscovery software platform, Stroz Discovery, which supports the complex requirements of the electronic discovery business. He is also responsible for designing, delivering, and supporting the technical infrastructure of the company’s digital forensic laboratories.
Mr. Arenaro is widely regarded as a visionary technologist, a strong crisis leader, and a mentor to top technical talent. With more than 20 years of experience that spans all IT management disciplines, he has consistently delivered significant achievements in IT turnarounds, business reorganizations, site planning and design, multi-million dollar project development, large-scale technology platform migration projects, cost reductions, hosting and server operations, back-office systems support, delivery of quality Enterprise Resource Planning solutions, creation of cutting-edge technology platforms, data and network security, and regulatory and compliance initiatives. His career reflects extensive global experience with dealings in Germany, Israel, England, Canada, Luxembourg, and Singapore, among other countries.
Prior to joining Stroz Friedberg, Mr. Arenaro was First Vice President and Regional Chief Technology Officer at Commerzbank North America where he led a cross-disciplinary IT team that supported four U.S. branch offices and 1100 end users. Reporting directly to the senior-most management of the bank, his responsibilities included all aspects of infrastructure operations, full budgetary planning and accountability, process control and management, regulatory compliance reporting, IT governance, platform engineering, security management, and corporate investigations. Among his many accomplishments at the bank are the development of a global infrastructure realignment strategy; formation of a Regional Loss Prevention Security Team; consolidation of several acquired companies into the Commerzbank Group; and the development of two state-of-the-art data centers worth $26 million.
Mr. Arenaro was previously Director of Management Information Services at Lifetime Entertainment Services (Lifetime TV), a $510+ million cable network, where he presided over the commercial development of an industry-first Advertising Sales Revenue System. Considered today a gold standard, this application platform is used by 75% of all broadcast cable companies. Earlier, as Vice President and Group Manager of Information Systems at Citibank, Mr. Arenaro led an IT Infrastructure Team that supported the North American Consumer Credit Cards Group. Additionally, as senior project manager, he led the development of Citibank’s “credit worthiness” decision support system.
Mr. Arenaro’s career is underscored by active membership in the Executive Council of New York, Wall Street Technology Association, Technology Managers Forum, and ASIS International. He and his teams have also been the topic of numerous industry case studies, as well as having been honored with several prestigious industry awards. He studied Computer Information Systems at Pace University and he is also a Licensed New York State Private Investigator.
