Melanie Maugeri is a Manager in Stroz Friedberg’s San Francisco office, where she oversees all work conducted in the office’s state-of-the-art forensic laboratory. She is an experienced forensic examiner who has conducted hundreds of forensic data acquisitions and analyses on a broad range of digital media. She has worked on numerous challenging and complex cases involving incidents of data breach, intellectual property theft, and fraud and misconduct.
Ms. Maugeri is well-versed in the latest digital forensics tools and has received training from Guidance Software in the use of its EnCase products. Her extensive experience includes forensic acquisitions and analyses of laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and file and exchange servers in both conventional and covert settings. She has a special expertise in collecting and analyzing data from Apple devices and has managed multi-terabyte data preservation and collection efforts in a number of internal and regulatory investigations.
Prior to joining Stroz Friedberg, Ms. Maugeri was a forensic examiner for an East Coast forensics firm. While there, she successfully managed multifaceted digital forensic projects for Fortune 500 companies and clients across all industries. She also worked closely with law enforcement agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigations on several investigations.
Ms. Maugeri is a GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst (GCFA), an EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE), and certified as an evidence custodian by the International Association of Property and Evidence. She holds an A+ Certification and has performed her studies in computer forensics and cybercrime at Champlain College in Burlington, VT. Ms. Maugeri has participated in formal training for Forensic Toolkit (FTK) and BlackBag Technologies.
