Ivo Hoppler is a Managing Director in Stroz Friedberg’s Zurich office, where he oversees major investigations on behalf of large corporations, financial services and law firms.  In addition to his investigative expertise, Mr. Hoppler brings decades of experience in mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, cross boarder investigations (FCPA, OFAC, US-Swiss tax or regulatory investigations etc.) data protection as well as computer forensics, electronic discovery, and cybercrime response.

Prior to joining Stroz Friedberg, Mr. Hoppler was a partner at Deloitte and then at PwC. He has led numerous corporate investigations in Switzerland and elsewhere in Europe. During his time with the Big Four, he specialised in intricate investigations related to international tax evasion, fraud, anti-money laundering, insider offences, the Foreign Corrupt Practises Act, the Office of Foreign Assets Control sanctions, and other international regulatory matters. Notably, Mr. Hoppler managed one of the largest data breaches in Switzerland.

Before his work in the private sector, Mr. Hoppler was a District Attorney of the Canton of Zurich. He was directly responsible and accountable to the public for managing and handling complex international criminal proceedings and cases. He undertook detailed investigations and solved highly difficult international cases across a variety of industries and markets, including a significant examination of a telecommunication company for tax evasion, corruption, and bribery. Mr. Hoppler was also commended for leading an extensive investigation into organised crime and money laundering which resulted in a successful confiscation of CHF 61 million for the Canton Zurich.

Since 2003 he has been a lecturer at the University of St. Gallen teaching “Economic Crime & Investigations” and “Corporate Governance & Compliance”. Additionally, he lectures at the University of Zurich & Federal Institute of Technology/ETH covering the topic of “Economic Crime Investigations & Investigations, Corporate Resilience”.

Mr. Hoppler is a certified fraud examiner and certified Stock Exchange Trader.
