As Vice President in Stroz Friedberg’s Security Science practice, George G. McBride assists clients in proactively managing information security and privacy risks. With almost twenty years of information security experience, Mr. McBride brings a balanced technical and business perspective to aid organizations in managing a spectrum of physical and operational risks.
Prior to joining Stroz Friedberg, Mr. McBride was the Information Security Officer for Johnson & Johnson’s Information Technology (IT) organization. While there, he also served as Privacy Director for the IT organization and was responsible for cross border data transfers, such as the Safe Harbor program. While managing an array of information security and privacy risks in connection with the company’s products and service offerings, he was tasked with developing an incident response program focused on data breach preparedness and remediation.
Additionally, Mr. McBride held privacy and security consulting positions at Deloitte & Touche and Lucent Technologies, providing sophisticated risk advisory services for Fortune 500 companies around the globe. Mr. McBride was instrumental in helping his clients build valuable security architectures, security operations centers, information security policies, and vulnerability and risk management programs. Notably, Mr. McBride was called upon as a Trusted Advisor to Chief Security and Risk Management Officers to assess and implement strategic and tactical IT security goals, sometimes serving as an interim CISO for several different organizations.
Mr. McBride began his information security career at Bellcore and Global Integrity. He specialized in ethical hacking, source code reviews, automated and manual vulnerability identification, and social engineering efforts for both Fortune 100 and Government clients.
Mr. McBride is an active member of several professional organizations and is frequently invited to speak at information security conferences including the RSA Data Security Conference, the SC Conferences, IEEE Security Conference, and MIS Security Conferences. He co-authored The Black Book on Corporate Security and contributed a chapter to Securing Converged IP Networks.
Mr. McBride received a B.S. in Electronics Engineering from Monmouth College, and a M.S. in Software Engineering from Monmouth University. Mr. McBride’s certifications include the following: CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISM (Certified Information Security Manager), CGEIT (Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT), CRISC (Certified in Risk and Information Systems Controls), and CIPP/US (Certified Information Privacy Professional / United States).
