Charles A. Kohl, Ph.D. is a Manager of Digital Forensics in Stroz Friedberg’s Boston office. He served as an expert testifier and consultant at Elysium Digital, a revered technology litigation consulting firm that was acquired by Stroz Friedberg in 2015. Charlie’s work at Elysium included an expert report on misappropriation of trade secrets; infringement analysis of software products in the iOS, Android, Linux, and Windows operating systems; damages analysis; design of workarounds for potential infringement; and forensic analysis and reporting. Charlie’s doctoral research involved rule-based systems for the interpretation of natural images.
Prior to joining Elysium Digital, Dr. Kohl managed software development efforts as CTO, Chief Architect, and Vice President of Engineering at a number of early and mid-stage companies. At Open Learning Exchange, he developed open-source software for the creation and sharing of global K-12 educational materials. At X-Rite, he managed the development of over 15 standalone and enterprise products for color management. At Context Media, he was responsible for the design and development of enterprise content management, and at Amerinex Applied Imaging, he led the contract development of image understanding software for DARPA, as well as the creation of commercial software tools for image processing.
