As a Consultant in Stroz Friedberg’s Chicago office, Bilal Malik provides reactive incident response investigations involving cyberespionage APT actors, PCI, and HIPAA data breaches. During his tenure at Stroz Friedberg, he has helped clients manage risk and investigate high profile data breaches in conjunction with law enforcement. He conducts proactive threat hunting and compromise assessments in enterprise environments to help find sophisticated actors hiding deep within corporate networks. Aside from incident response services, he delivers a range of proactive cybersecurity services to assist clients in operating and optimizing their security operations center using the latest state of the art technology and available threat intel to improve overall defense. Bilal works closely with regional FBI offices on various initiatives to collectively unravel mysteries behind sophisticated and organized cybercrime.
Prior to joining Stroz Friedberg, Mr. Malik worked as a consultant at Halock Security Labs providing governance and compliance services to Fortune 500 clients. He helped several clients conduct risk assessments against ISO standards and provided support and guidance in complying with PCI and HIPAA standards. He also helped clients remediate findings and harden operating systems and network security policies to align with compliance requirements.
During his early years, his penchant for technology led him to develop plenty of video games, mobile apps, and win several ethical hacking competitions. He is deeply involved in the local tech community, and often serves as a guest speaker or judge at local universities in the Chicago-land area.
Mr. Malik has hands-on experience with leading forensics, network monitoring, penetration testing and incident response tools. He is a graduate of Northeastern Illinois University where he earned his B.S. in Computer Science with a double concentration in Information Technology and Computer Security, Summa Cum Laude.
