Ben Higgins is a Vice President and Head of Stroz Friedberg’s Dubai office, working within the Due Diligence practice. He specialises in the Middle East and Africa, where he has extensive experience running complex multi-jurisdictional investigations, enhanced due diligence cases, strategic research pieces and asset traces for multinationals, law firms and financial institutions.
Mr. Higgins has managed hundreds of such assignments, helping clients identify and mitigate reputational and regulatory risk in the context of the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the UK Bribery Act. These have included investigating many prominent, and lesser known, Middle Eastern businesses and political figures – from Gulf-based businessmen and officials to Iraqi oil services companies and Egyptian conglomerates. Where issues exist, for instance allegations of corruption, terrorist financing or other wrongdoing, his knowledge is frequently called on to provide additional expert context and analysis. During his time at Billiter Partners, a business intelligence company that merged with Stroz Friedberg in 2013, Mr Higgins contributed articles on a wide variety of subjects ranging from Western sanctions on Syria to corruption risk in the Gulf.
