Stroz Friedberg today:
Stroz Friedberg, an Aon company, is a specialized risk management firm built to help clients solve the complex challenges prevalent in today’s digital, connected, and regulated business world.
Our focus is on cybersecurity, with leading experts in digital forensics, incident response, and security science; investigation; eDiscovery; intellectual property; and due diligence.
Our aim is to guide businesses through the maze of complexities found at the intersection of law, technology, investigations, compliance and security science. We seek truth—uncovering facts and evidence ethically—to help organizations address their most significant risk issues. Sometimes we are called in after an incident to perform an investigation, while other times we help clients assess how prepared and protected they are from threats. Our clients call us, and we’re at our best, when the stakes are high and the potential for damage is great.
At Stroz Friedberg, we are united by a common goal—to maximize the health of an organization, ensuring its longevity, protection and resilience.
The Stroz Friedberg difference:
The skills, backgrounds, and integrity of our people, combined with our industry-leading proprietary incident response and digital forensics tools, are a powerful force when ‘getting it right’ matters most. Our teams have deep scientific roots: we are elite forensic analysts, computer scientists specializing in malware decryption, decoding and reverse engineering, Certified Information Systems Security Professionals, and Information Privacy Professionals. We are ISO 27001 (Cyber) certified across multiple service lines (cyber resilience and digital forensics) in seven U.S. cities and the UK, where we have also obtained Cyber Essentials certification. Additionally via our Gotham Digital Science subsidiaries, we are certified to offer the industry leading CREST (the Council of Registered Ethical Security Testers), STAR (Simulated Target Attack and Response), and CBEST cybersecurity testing services.
We are experts in eDiscovery (our data centers are SSAE16 certified), helping organizations uncover evidence and comply with litigation-related discovery and disclosure requirements. We are also experienced in due diligence and compliance and work proactively to collect and analyze data to surface meaningful business and marketplace intelligence.
We also have unique experience with law enforcement. We are former members of the FBI and CIA, former attorneys from the Department of Justice, as well as internationally respected former prosecutors, litigators, regulators and members of law enforcement. Our investigation and intelligence teams have Certified Fraud Examiners and licensed investigators.
We’ve worked on proactive and reactive security and risk management engagements for some of the largest, highest-profile organizations in the world. We’ve also helped law enforcement navigate some of the most complex and highest stakes investigations in the headlines.
Long before cybersecurity was mainstream, Ed Stroz and Eric Friedberg were helping the U.S. government tackle computer crime. Ed Stroz spent 16 years as an FBI agent and was appointed to form a Computer Crime Squad in New York City (only the 3rd in the country at the time). Eric Friedberg spent 12 years as federal prosecutor and led the Computer Crime Unit in New York City, prosecuting numerous cases involving cybercrime e-discovery, digital forensics, intellectual property and online privacy and security.
Toward the end of his FBI tenure, Stroz saw how pivotal digital evidence had become to uncovering the truth and prosecuting crimes. He knew this trend would be a game-changer in the private sector and believed he was uniquely positioned to share his expertise and help industry adapt and thrive in a digital and connected world. He started Stroz Associates and then quickly partnered with Friedberg in 2000 to form Stroz Friedberg. Combining their expertise and vision they built a firm fit for purpose – to help businesses prepare for and mitigate against risks born out of a digital and connected world.
Since its founding, our firm has continued to make the right investments to enhance our ability to serve our clients. On October 11, 2016, Aon announced an agreement to acquire Stroz Friedberg and all of its subsidiaries with the acquisition completed on October 31, 2016. On May 10, 2017, Aon appointed Jason J. Hogg as Chief Executive Officer of Aon Cyber Solutions and Stroz Friedberg, an Aon company, succeeding Michael Patsalos-Fox.
Today, Stroz Friedberg is a firm of 500 people worldwide, and growing.
