An urgent client call to support an FCPA investigation in China had Stroz Friedberg’s digital forensics team on a plane within 48 hours carrying Pelican cases fully equipped with a one-of-a-kind mobile digital forensics laboratory. After setting up our portable forensics lab, we conducted a comprehensive identification of all data sources for collection; we worked closely with investigating counsel, conducted custodian interviews and analyzed the company’s network systems to ensure a complete recovery. Next, our international experts employed specialized data extraction tools necessary to search, collect and preserve, in both Mandarin and English, electronic email and other documents. Our FCPA practice professionals combined best-in-class electronic discovery processing together with their keen digital forensic analysis to better assess the completeness of the available data, and in turn, support counsel’s on-going FCPA interviews. As new issues ensued from the investigation, Stroz Friedberg highly-trained examiners searched for relevant data which enabled counsel to gauge the accuracy of the witnesses’ responses. Even in this remote, foreign-language environment, Stroz Friedberg successfully worked to thoroughly and defensibly preserve and search the electronic data for responsive information. Moreover, our advanced mobile and foreign language processing capabilities invoked new processing protocols for the client to help ensure compliance with data privacy concerns and obligations.
