Healthcare- Pharmaceutical Auditor Steals Personal Information

A major pharmaceutical company discovered that a few months after a former internal auditor resigned to work at a competitor, that the departed employee had downloaded the audit department's shared network drive; it contained hundreds of thousands of individuals' social security numbers and other personally identifying information. The pharmaceutical company engaged Stroz Friedberg’s data breach response team to review the stolen information. Upon we request, we then masterfully created a database listing each individual subject to notification, including any personally identifying information found for that person on the stolen drive. This empowered the pharmaceutical company with key, organized knowledge necessary for remedial action. Using our combined legal & technical prowess, Stroz Friedberg worked with the client’s prosecutors to intelligently build a sound legal case against the departed employee.
